TUCSON — Arizona Volleyball came out on the short end against top-ranked Wisconsin while Wildcat Soccer finished even with visting Texas Tech.

Nicole Dallin’s scoring streak came to an end Thursday night as Arizona Soccer drew for a third time this season in a 1-1 stalemate with Texas Tech in the nightcap at the Arizona Classic.

The Red Raiders remained unbeaten (5-0-2) in their seven games this season.

Sami Baytosh scored her first goal of the season, becoming the sixth Wildcat this year to score a goal. Hope Hisey continued a streak of denying penalty kicks, saving her third one of the season.

Arizona (2-1-3) will conclude action at the Arizona Classic Sunday, Sept. 10 at 11:30 a.m. as it takes on Utah State.

The Aggies fell 1-0 to Arizona State in the Classic opener. The Sun Devils (4-0-3) are 20-1-5 in non-conference games since the start of the 2020 season.

VOLLEYBALL

HIGHLIGHTS: #1 Wisconsin 3, Arizona 0

Tami Thomas-Ailara served six aces Thursday night to lead No. 1 Wisconsin to a straight set sweep over the Wildcats (17-25, 21-25, 20-25) in Madison, Wisconsin.

Sofia Maldonado Diaz paced Arizona’s attack with 13 kills and a career-high .462 hitting percentage. She also led the defense with four kills and six digs.

The Cats (3-4) will take on Miami (FL) on Saturday, September 9 at 5 p.m. MST in Madison to close out the weekend.
