The Sabercats take down the top seed in Conference 3A 34-29
TUCSON — Senior Cameron Hackworth scored two rushing touchdowns and had an interception in the 2nd half to spark No. 7 Sabino to a 34-29 home victory over top ranked Mohave in Conference 3A.
The loss was the first of the season for the Thunderbirds (9-1) who also saw quarterback Joe Yoney leave the game late with an injury.
The victory for Sabino (7-3) coupled with a 21-14 loss by No. 4 Thatcher to Morenci, could vault the Sabercats into a Top 4 playoff position.
Morenci (7-3, 4-1) emerges as the champion of the ultra-competitive 3A South Region.
