Buffaloes rally from eight down in the 4th quarter to steal a 75-74 victory

TUCSON — Jaylyn Sherrod scored 18 points as No. 5 Colorado avoided a road upset, beating Arizona 75-74 at McKale Center.

The Wildcats led by as many as eight points early in the 4th quarter thanks to a 12-0 run but the Buffaloes shifted to a 2-3 zone defense that slowed down the Wildcats offense over the final nine minutes of the game.

Former UA forward Aaronet Vonleh scored eight of her 11 points in the second half to help rescue her Colorado (12-1, 2-0) team from defeat. Vonleh played her freshman season at Arizona in 2021-22 before transferring to Colorado where she has become an all-conference level player the last two seasons.

Kailyn Gilbert led the Wildcats in the loss with 19.

UA played again with a limited roster as forwards Sali Kourouma (shoulder) and Isis Beh (concussion protocol) both sat out of the game.

Freshman Jada Williams scored 16 points and Breya Cunningham added 11.

UA (9-5, 1-1) will host No. 15 Utah (11-3, 1-1) on Sunday at Noon.
