Leading-scorer Kailyn Gilbert misses 2nd straight game as Cardinal win big in Tucson

TUCSON — Cameron Brink finished just a rebound shy of a 20/20 performance Sunday in Tucson as No. 6 Stanford rolled past short-handed Arizona 96-64 in an NCAA women’s basketball game at McKale Center.

Brink who missed a game-plus last week due to injury scored 25 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.

Kiki Iriafen added 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the floor for the Cardinal (19-2, 8-1). Hannah Jump scored all 15 of her points in the first half on four made three-point shots.

The Wildcats played a second straight game without their leading scorer Kailyn Gilbert. The sophomore guard sat out due to injury leaving UA with just seven available players.

Courtney Blakely played Gilbert’s role nicely for Adia Barnes, scoring a season-high 24 points. Freshmen guards Jada Williams and Skylar Jones had 14 and 12 points respectively.

Arizona (11-10, 3-6) has a week off before they host rival Arizona State next Sunday.
