TUCSON — Jaron DeBerry and three relievers stifled Arizona’s offense, holding the Wildcats to five hits, in a 7-0 Elimination Game victory Saturday afternoon at a sweltering Hi Corbett Field.

The loss ended the Wildcats (36-23) dream season sooner than planned and extended their post-season losing streak to five games.

UA lost in the Regional Final at Miami in 2022 and has been swept out of their last two regionals in Fayetteville, Arkansas last season and at home this weekend. Arizona is now 2-6 in the NCAA Tournament under head coach Chip Hale

Tom Poole hit a pair of two-run home runs off UA starter Cam Walty, who allowed six runs on nine hits in four innings.

The Wildcats two starting pitchers, Walty and Clark Candiotti, were not themselves this weekend, allowing 10 runs in 11 innings with four walks and three home runs.
