Wildcats rally from 2-sets-to-1 down to beat Bowling Green for NIVC title

TUCSON — Arizona Volleyball won the first championship in program history Tuesday night, taking down Bowling Green in five sets in the NIVC Championship match at McKale Center.

The Wildcats stormed back from a 2-1 deficit for the five-set victory (27-29, 25-23, 18-25, 25-17, 15-9).

Fifth year senior Jaelyn Hodge led Arizona with 25 kills and a .339 hitting percentage in her final match as a Wildcat. She was selected the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

Jordan Wilson followed with 18 kills. The Wildcats’ defense tallied a season best 15.0 blocks led by Journey Tucker with eight and Alayna Johnson with five.

Mia Tyler led the Falcons (25-10) with 18 kills. Lauryn Hovey added 17.

UA (24-9) finished the season with an 11-match winning streak after starting the campaign with 11 consecutive victories.
