Wildcats bounce back from loss to Utah with big victory over Knights

HIGHLIGHTS: Arizona 73, Central Florida 57

ORLANDO (FL) — Arizona Women’s Basketball scored the 1st 10 points of the 1st quarter and the initial eight points of the 2nd quarter on their way to a 73-57 Big 12 road victory over Central Florida.

Wildcats forward Breya Cunningham got going early, scoring nine of her 15 points in the opening quarter. UA raced to a quick 10-0 lead in the 1st five minutes of the contest.

Another 10-0 run midway through the 2nd quarter allowed Arizona to stretch their advantage to 26 points. Skylar Jones and Lauryn Swann had three-point makes to help put the Wildcats up 43-17.

Jones finished with a game-high 17 points. She didn’t miss a shot going 5-for-5 from the floor (2-for-2 3FG) and 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

Cunningham and Jada Williams both scored 15. Arizona had 19 assists on 25 made baskets and went 16-for-22 at the charity stripe.

UA (11-5, 2-1) heads home to face No. 23 Baylor on Wednesday (6 p.m.) and Iowa State on Saturday (2 p.m.). Saturday’s contest will be the front side of a McKale Center doubleheader as the Wildcat men will play Central Florida at 8 p.m.
