HIGHLIGHTS: Arizona 71, Arizona State 59

TEMPE — Arizona Women’s Basketball closed out the regular season with a 71-59 victory over in-state rival Arizona State on Saturday afternoon at Desert Financial Arena. The win marked the Wildcats’ 10th conference victory and secured their 19th win of the season under head coach Adia Barnes.

The victory allowed the Wildcats to sweep the Territorial Cup Series and Colorado’s loss to Texas Tech clinched the 8th spot for UA and a 1st round bye in the Big 12 Conference Tournament next week in Kansas City.

Four Wildcats scored in double figures, led by Lauryn Swann’s 18 points, as she knocked down six three-pointers. Isis Beh followed with 15 points, adding eight rebounds and three blocks in her fourth straight game in double-figures. Jada Williams contributed 13 points, including a pair of threes, while Paulina Paris chipped in nine points, five assists, and three steals.

Arizona controlled the game defensively, limiting ASU to just 38.3% shooting and forcing 13 turnovers. The Wildcats dominated from beyond the arc, shooting 53.6% (15-for-28) from three-point range, their best three-point shooting performance of the season.

Ty Skinner scored 20 points for ASU (9-21, 3-15, 15th). Nevaeh Parkinson had 17 points and grabbed 19 rebounds.

UA (19-12, 10-8, 8th) now turns their attention to the Big 12 Tournament. As the No. 8 seed, Arizona earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 9 seed Colorado and No. 16 seed Houston in the second round on Thursday, March 6, at 12:30 p.m. MST.
