Wildcats Radio 1290 has all you need to know on Pima Athletics

Pima has already lost twice to Yavapai as well as Scottsdale and Phoenix.

TUCSON — The Fall Sports campaign is in full swing at Pima College as the Aztecs look for another successful year on the courts and fields of junior college athletics.

VOLLEYBALL

Pima Volleyball struggled on the road Wednesday night against No. 12 Chandler-Gilbert falling in straight sets (25-13, 25-13, 25-13).

Freshman Haylee Gilleland (Flagstaff HS) finished the match with six kills and five digs. Freshman Taylor Crawford (Ironwood Ridge HS) closed it out with 16 assists and five kills while sophomore Morgan Hains (Canyon del Oro HS) had eight digs.

The Aztecs (6-7, 2-1 in ACCAC) head back out on the road on Friday when they play at Phoenix College. First volley is set for 7:00 p.m.

WOMEN’S SOCCER

Pima Women’s Soccer snapped a three-game losing streak Tuesday as they finished in a 2-2 tie with No. 11 ranked Scottsdale.

Freshman Lizzie Walker (Canyon del Oro HS) drove into the box and scored with eight seconds left in the game to secure the tie.

Freshman Camila Razcon (Marana HS) put the Aztecs ahead 1-0 with a goal in the 31st minute with an assist from freshman Solaris Graves (Ironwood Ridge HS).

Sophomore Adriana Pacheco (Cienega HS) finished with seven saves.

The Aztecs (1-4-1, 0-2-1 in ACCAC) look to build some momentum as they return to the West Campus Aztec Field on Saturday to face-off against Glendale at 5:30 p.m.

MEN’S SOCCER

The No. 5 ranked Aztecs defeated Scottsdale 2-0 for their fourth shutout win this season.

It was the second meeting between the two programs this season as the Aztecs beat Scottsdale 5-0 on Aug. 29 on the road.

Freshmen Brandon Sanchez (Canyon del Oro HS) and Missael Montilla (Tucson Magnet HS) scored the goals for Pima Men’s Soccer. Freshman Jose Carlos Ortiz (Nogales HS) finished the game with four saves.

The Aztecs (5-1, 2-1 in ACCAC) host Glendale on Saturday at 8 p.m.
