Wildcats blow a 5-point lead in the final 35 seconds and lose in double overtime

CORVALLIS — Reagan Beers scored 20 points making 12-of-18 from the free throw line as Oregon State won a two-overtime battle with Arizona 73-70 Friday night at Gill Coliseum.

It was a 20-20 night for the Beavers sophomore star as she also ended the night with 20 rebounds.

It was the third straight game the Wildcats had a chance to win on a final shot. Kailyn Gilbert’s turnaround jumper rimmed out as the clock expired at the end of regulation. UA had led the Beavers by five points with 35 seconds to play.

Gilbert finished with 22 points. Esmery Martinez had 20 for UA but fellow 5th-year player Helena Pueyo did not score a single point in 49 minutes.

The Wildcats defense forced 25 Oregon State (13-2, 2-2) turnovers but were outrebounded 48-31.

Arizona (10-5, 2-2) will play at Oregon on Sunday in a game that will tipoff at 1 p.m. on Wildcats Radio 1290.
