UA ends four-game skid with a 66-55 victory over Cal at McKale Center

TUCSON — Arizona got the home cooking they needed, snapping a four-game losing skid Friday night with a comeback 66-55 victory over visiting California in an NCAA women’s basketball game at McKale Center.

The Wildcats won without leading scorer Kailyn Gilbert who sat out the game due to an undisclosed injury.

Esmery Martinez led the Wildcats with 20 points. She made 7-of-10 shots from the floor as Arizona outscored the Golden Bears 36-8 in the paint. Jada Williams scored 13 points.

The Golden Bears made eight 1st half three-point shots to lead by as many as six early but hit just two after the break. Marta Suarez finished with 11 points for California (13-7, 3-5).

UA (11-9, 3-5) will host No. 6 Stanford (18-2, 7-1) Sunday at Noon. The Cardinal won easily at Arizona State 80-50.
