SOCCER: #5 UNC pulls away late from Cats

North Carolina scored twice down the stretch for a 2-nil win

CHAPEL HILL (NC) – Unranked Arizona held No. 5 North Carolina scoreless for 75 minutes Sunday afternoon at Dorrance Field, but the 21-time NCAA champion Tar Heels got a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes to take a 2-0 result.

UNC (4-0) outshot UA 24-3 in the contest. The Tar Heels got goals from Tessa Dellarose (76′) and Olivia Thomas (88′). Wildcats’ goalkeeper Olivia Ramey was outstanding with 9 saves.

Arizona’s road trip continues Thursday in Malibu, California where the Wildcats (3-1) will take on Pepperdine.
