Transfer Trey Townsend showed his range with 24 points in a 117-54 Wildcats victory

TUCSON — Transfer big man Trey Townsend scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the first half as No. 10 Arizona comfortably beat visiting Eastern New Mexico 117-54 in the Wildcats’ exhibition opener at McKale Center.

Townsend, a grad transfer from Oakland (MI) University, knocked down 4 three point-shots and finished the game 8-of-11 from the floor.

UA’s other transfer big man, Tobe Awaka from Tennessee, had 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Henri Veesaar scored 19 points, missing just one of his nine shots. KJ Lewis and Anthony Dell’Orso each scored 11 points while Caleb Love finished with 10.

The Wildcats as a team made 13 three-point shots, shooting 64% from the floor, while dishing out 24 assists.

Arizona will wrap up the pre-season schedule on Monday, October 28 when the Cats host Point Loma.
