Seahawks tell suitors WR DK Metcalf not available

DK Metcalf won’t be running an out route from the Seattle Seahawks.

Seahawks general manager John Schneider turned back suitors calling about the cost to acquire Metcalf before the NFL trade deadline on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

Seattle opened the season 3-0 but lost for the fifth time in six games last week — 26-20 at home in overtime to the Los Angeles Rams.

Currently recovering from a right knee sprain, Metcalf has 35 receptions for 568 yards and three touchdowns in seven games in 2024 and is signed through next season.

He could return to the field after the upcoming bye, but missed last week’s game with Grade 1 MCL sprain suffered in Week 7.

Coach Mike Macdonald said that “having the extra week will definitely help” the two-time Pro Bowler get back on the field for the Seahawks (4-5).

Wide receivers were popular trade targets as the market value at the position has exploded.

Metcalf could command $30-plus million per season in line with the top earners at his position. Justin Jefferson (Vikings) signed a four-year, $140 million contract before the 2024 season and is the top-paid receiver at $35 million per year, with CeeDee Lamb (Cowboys) making $34 million per season on the four-year deal he signed at the end of his preseason holdout in August.
