NAU hands UA 1st loss of the season

FLAGSTAFF — Northern Arizona came into Wednesday night’s game against Arizona with a reputation of being a team that score and that they did, erasing a 16-point 1st half deficit and winning big over the Wildcats 92-75.

The Jacks knocked down 10 three-point shots in the game led by guard Leia Beattie who hit 5-of-8 to finish with 17 points. Nyah Moran led all scorers with 22 points.

Arizona played without starting point guard Jada Williams. Head coach Adia Barnes did not say on her postgame interview with broadcaster Derrick Palmer why Williams sat out.

Paulina Paris led the Wildcats (5-1) with 20 points to go along with eight rebounds. Sahnya Jah had 16 points.

UA returns home on Saturday at 6 p.m. to face Grambling State at McKale Center. Coverage on KTUC-AM 1400 begins at 5:45 p.m.
