Arizona gears up for Big 12 opener against BYU on Saturday
TUCSON–The Arizona Wildcats wrapped up their non-conference schedule in emphatic fashion, defeating Weber State 87-66 on Monday night at McKale Center. Fueled by career-best performances, Arizona showcased their depth and offensive firepower ahead of their Big 12 opener this weekend.
Jada Williams led the way with a career-high 24 points, knocking down four three-pointers and dishing out seven assists, both career highs. Sahnya Jah notched her first career double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, while Paulina Paris added 12 points and four steals. Mailien Rolf was perfect from the field, contributing a personal-best 11 points.
The Wildcats shot an impressive 53% from the field, including 11 three-pointers, and capitalized on 22 points off turnovers. Their bench made a strong statement, accounting for 40 points, while the defense tallied 15 steals. Arizona’s dominance was clear, holding the lead for over 36 minutes and building a margin as large as 25 points in the third quarter.
With the victory, Arizona turns its focus to the start of Big 12 play. The Wildcats will travel to Provo, Utah, to take on BYU on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 6 p.m. MST. The game will air on ESPN+, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter in conference competition.
