Los Angeles Lakers star point guard Luka Doncic will sit out Friday’s road game against the Denver Nuggets with a sprained right ankle and his lingering left calf ailment.
Doncic scored 45 points in Thursday’s 126-106 road loss against the Milwaukee Bucks. That was his high scoring output in 13 games since the trade to the Lakers and equaled his season best, first reached while with the Dallas Mavericks against the Golden State Warriors on Dec. 15.
Doncic has scored 30 or more points in five of his last seven games. He is averaging 26.1 points, 8.6 rebounds and 7.6 assists since joining Los Angeles.
The Lakers also listed Dorian Finney-Smith (left ankle) and Gabe Vincent (left knee) as doubtful.
LeBron James (left groin) remains out and isn’t with the Lakers, who have lost three straight games.
Los Angeles (40-24) resides in fourth place in the Western Conference, one game behind the Nuggets (42-24) and Memphis Grizzlies.
Three-time MVP Nikola Jokic of the Nuggets is probable while dealing with elbow and ankle ailments.
